

Profile: Josie Jenkins

Josie studied Fine Art (painting) at Norwich School of Art and Design, graduating in 2002. She has worked as an artist based in Hull and Nottinghamshire before settling in Liverpool.
Following graduation Josie continued to paint, exploring different media, developing her style and exhibiting in shows. In 2010 Josie joined Arena Studios in Liverpool and was a director from 2011 to 2013. In 2011 Josie was featured in the BBC2 television series, Show Me the Monet, and was selected by a panel of judges to show her work in the accompanying exhibition at the Royal College of Art, London. More recently her work has featured in exhibitions across the UK.
In September 2013 her work was selected for the New Lights Art Prize and won the Valeria Sykes Award, the main prize. Josie is planning to use the award to fund a research trip to China, including a three month residency with the Chinese European Art Centre in Xiamen.
